The Walter Raleigh Hotel hosted the annual Three Brothers Golf Competition again this year with the First Round held at West Waterford Golf Club and the Second at Youghal Golf Club. The event has grown in popularity over the last 14 years with players coming from far and wide to compete with their siblings and renew the annual rivalry against the other brothers. It is one of the most unique golf tournaments in the world today and proves to be a much anticipated occasion for all concerned.

Overall winners were the Coote Brothers, from Clare, pictured at the prize giving of the three brothers golf classic 2008, Youghal, which was sponsored by The Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal. Their three brothers won the competition again last year.

The tournament takes place in April/May each year with up to 50 teams of brothers meeting to renew friendships and rivalry. Last year the three Coote brothers came out overall champions followed closely by the Lynch brothers. This years event, was dominated by the Coote family also, however it was the other 3 brothers who won out, that’s six keen golfing brothers competing for glory – and what an occasion, they were followed by the Lynch brothers 2 points behind and closely again by the Naughtons in third place.
The event is as much a social one as a competitive one with two lively nights at The Walter Raleigh Hotel. The Awards Ceremony and Gala dinner are held at the hotel on the Saturday night followed by entertainment and late bar.
