East Cork girl Charley Moore from Midleton is the envy of her friends having won the McDonald’s Player Escort Competition which will see the 9 year old walk out with the players at the UEFA Euro 2008. Charley has been chosen as a McDonald’s Player Escort for the Semi-Final in Vienna on 26th of June.
McDonald’s is one of the official sponsors of Euro 2008 which is underway in Switzerland and Austria and Charley, a keen football supporter and football player, has been chosen as one of the lucky player escorts who will accompany the teams onto the pitch for a key game at one of football’s great occasions.

Charley Moore, captain of the Under 9’s Midleton School girl soccer team commented that she couldn’t wait to enter the competition which ran in McDonald’s restaurants throughout Ireland, “I’m really excited to be going to EURO 2008 with my dad. I’m really looking forward to meeting world-class players and to getting the Player Escort uniforms and the match souvenirs. I’m very lucky to have won this amazing prize.”
According to Claire Lynch of McDonald’s “The McDonald’s Player Escort programme provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for Charley to take part in UEFA EURO 2008. As well as escorting the teams, Charley and her dad Charlie will enjoy a 3 night stay in Austria and will have the opportunity to see the local sights. She will also receive a rehearsal kit, an official player escort uniform, match souvenirs and a certificate to remind her of the trip.”
