On Tuesday 9th. Sept. the Youghal Branch of the Irish Red Cross presented Certificates to the students who recently completed courses in Basic First Aid and Therapeutic Hand Care.

The Chairperson of the Youghal Red Cross, Elaine Mulcare welcomed everyone to the night’s proceedings. She complimented all those who had spent their time learning skills that would be of benefit both to the community and themselves. She added that a Red Cross Certificate is valuable because it has worldwide recognition and she hoped that after three years everyone would be back to update their certs. She also mentioned that the Red Cross was always looking for new members and hoped they would consider that option.

Elaine also thanked Thomas Bermingham (Instructor) for the time and effort he had put into running both courses. The fact that the First Aid course was held at Bru na Si meant that those attending had a comfortable venue at which to learn and Elaine thanked Micheal de Buitleir for facilitating the Red Cross at their home.
Thomas Bermingham then presented the Certificates for both courses and invited everyone to share in some light refreshments.
The Red Cross is grateful to Shalom House for the use of their premises and a special word of thanks to Nora who always looks after them.
Members of the local branch of the Red Cross help out regularly at the Blood Bank.
