CruX Dance Theatre in its 2008 tour brings together the expertise of three professional Irish choreographers. Jane Kellaghan from Cork and Artistic Director of CruX Dance, Fearghus o Conchuir and Mairead Vaughan. This years triple performance is called “Stage of My Mind” and examines the idea of self estrangement and the inability to self soothe in our hectic pace of modern life. Each choreographer was given free reign to create a piece on the concept of “Stage of My Mind”. Cork based Jane Kellaghan Director of CruX Dance has included in her interpretation video and text based on a piece written by Breda Dooley, also from Cork. The other two choreographers created their own dialogue with the dancers based on the concept and created a triple bill which provides a full evenings performance of dance.

Reactions to the triple bill were a plenty at the post performance reception in the Firkin Crane. The audience was fascinated by the first piece, softly soothed by the second piece and intrigued by the combination of technology, dialogue and dance of the final piece. The dancers are now looking forward to continuing their countywide tour based on the warmth and receptiveness of their opening night audience. On Saturday morning the cast and crew were on their way to Tipperary for Saturday night and Mallow for Sunday following the success of their opening night.

“Stage of My Mind” will be performed by dancers from Italy, Japan, the UK and Ireland. The triple bill will look at our ability to “self soothe” or put in modern day language “pull ourselves together”. In movement the dancers and choreographers will pose the question “How are we to pull ourselves together if we don’t know what to pull?” How do we “soothe” ourselves from the tensions of modern life? Crux Dance will attempt to answer these questions in dance in its 2008 Triple Bill Tour.

The tour kicked off in Firkin Crane Cork on September 12th with performances in Tipperary Excel Centre September 13th, Sun 14th September St. Mary’s Secondary School Mallow, Youghal Town Hall September 17th, Bandon town Hall September 18th and finishing in The Boys Club Bantry House on September 20th
