The inaugural Cork Culture Night takes place this Friday, the 19th of September. Over thirty organisations will take part in Cork Cultural Night with the majority of the cultural buildings extending their opening hours to midnight and putting on once off free performances and events. Go behind the scenes at the Opera House or take a musical walking tour of the city with the likes of John Spillane; there’s plenty of activities to entertain and engage those of all ages and backgrounds.

A host of free readings, talks, poetry events, music performances and film screenings will take place all over the city. Art enthusiasts will be delighted to note the extended opening hours of all the city art galleries and for those interested in drama, The Granary Theatre are putting on two plays Beaten, and Thailand: Whats Love Got to Do with it while The Cork Arts Theatre are hosting an evening of entertainment with some of Cork’s finest talent taking part.
There is no better way to savour the delights of Cork than to wander around its streets. Events not to be missed are the innovative music walking tours which are being led by three of Cork’s most treasured musicians, John Spillane, Camille O’Sullivan and Cara O’Sullivan. Culture night originated in 2006 in Dublin city, and this year for the first time it was announced that cultural venues throughout the country would be participating.
On September 19, to help you enjoy Cork Culture Night and to plan your evening Cork City Hall will be open from 9 am - 10 pm and further information on all events is available from each of the venues.
