This will allow for an open and secure forum to create awareness and understanding of mental health which is one of the goals of CMHF. Counsellors and support groups will be present throughout the morning to allow for more in-depth discussion and exchange.Cork Mental Health Foundation was established in 1962 to promote positive mental health and to help people with mental disabilities and has since then grown and developed. CMHF now works from its new offices in Nore House in Blackrock. This seminar marking World Mental Health Day dovetails with the vision of CMHF which is to ensure that those with mental health difficulties are treated with respect and compassion in a fair and positive manner.
This vision has been translated into action by the CMHF by the provision of 30 high quality residential units and catering for the needs of its 232 residents. This hands on approach is a clear indication of the level of real time support which assists in the re-integration of those with mental heath issues and those who are in recovery back into the community. CMHA also supports local mental health associations providing training, information and back up through its communities and schools outreach programme.

Tony Fields Sales and Marketing Manager of suits distributors Ireland Ltd who are the sponsors of the event expressed his delight in supporting the event.CMHF is a vital linchpin in assisting and re-ingrategrating those with mental health issues back into society and also promoting positive mental health.

This Seminar will allow the public to take time and view the problems of Suicide and Eating Disorders in 2008. The ability to discuss these issues openly under the guidance of experts will create awareness and understanding of what real mental health means. Outside of this Seminar Cork Mental Health Foundation will continue to support those with mental health problems but will also create a consciousness and framework among young and old alike to ensure that these issues are openly discussed.
