Youghal’s Walter Raleigh Hotel hosted a great night of dancing, song and music from Irelands legendary country singer Louise Morrissey and her band. Louise, Marty Daniels and the band, Peter Lee and friends. The event was in aid of Fr John Keanes missionary work in Ecuador.

The talented musicians must be praised for the great entertainment on offer from 8.30 till after midnight. The dance floor was constantly full; every seat in the house taken and because of the large crowd parking meant a long walk. Much praise too must go to the organising committee and to everyone who took part in this great fundraising venture. This was a special night in that all funds raised were in aid of Fr. Keane’s Missionary work in Ecuador.
Youghal native Fr. John Keane has been working with the extreme poor in the Good Shepherd Parish of La Libertad with the St James the Apostle Society. Since his arrival in 2006 he has organised several relief programs, runs a medicine purchasing program, helps with providing food, clothing supplies, education and housing many of the thousands who live side by side in this small area in Cane shacks high in the Andes Mountains. It can cost up to €2,000 to provide enough food to feed
approx 2000 people every two weeks. In this area there are no money, no work, no health facilities, political unrest and no land in which to grow crops or create any self sustaining growth programs. Click on image to enlarge
