The Guidance Department who organised this event are extremely grateful for the support given by the local community in Youghal. Many local people gave up their free time to give advice and information to students and their parents about the work in which they are involved with.

Leaving Certificate students had the opportunity of discussing their course options with lecturers and staff from the various Colleges of Further Education, Institutes of Technology, Agricultural Colleges and University College Cork. Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Stryker Instruments, Carrigtohill sent representatives to give insights in working in these industries. The Defence Forces were on hand to update students about recruitment campaigns etc. Afterwards,  Students were given the opportunity to evaluate the evening and many reported gaining insights into particular careers and it has  served to enthuse and motivate them to commit further  to their studies.

Many of the contributors have subsequently contacted the school and commented on the excellent welcome they received. Students were on hand to assist the visitors with setting up their stands and providing refreshments. Sinéad Mansfield, Secretary of the Student Council greeted all guests on behalf of the Student Body. A Head of one particular college contacted the school and highly commended the students for their obvious pride in the school, their ability and confidence when engaging with adults and the quality of questions asked. College representatives  were particularly heartened by the level of interest displayed by parents who accompanied their sons and daughters.
