Emergency services joint exercise at the front strand

The exercise will be held at the front strand Claycastle Car park this Saturday 14th March ’09 at 2pm- involving the Youghal RNLI, Youghal and Ardmore Coast Guard Units, The HSE Decontamination Unit and the Waterford based Irish Coast Guard Helicopter. The object of the exercise is to show each agencies working skills and equipment and to blend them together in the event of a major emergency. The exercise consists of a vessel in distress at sea and several casualties having to be recovered from the water and the vessel by the RNLI and the Irish Coast Guard Helicopter. They will be transferred to the shore where the Coast Guard Unit will then transported them to the HSE Decontamination Unit where they will be handed over for treatment
The whole exercise will depend on availability of each unit being available on the day.
