Information is wanted on the whereabouts of “Maurice”- The Yellow Man. Maurice would be well known to anybody who travels down the Lower Glanmire road, Cork City.

He stands by the side of the road outside “DALY INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY CO”(D.I.S.C. plant hire) where he has stood for the last 20years. “He has been a big part of the company since he joined us over 20 years ago”. He goes out every morning at 8.30am and is brought in every evening at 5.30pm at close of business. Over the years he has had his own few adventures and mishaps, but unfortunately his disappearance yesterday-Thur.30th April- is a bit more serious as his kidnapping (mannequinapping) was caught on cctv & the gardai were alerted to the incident. A few stories about “The Yellow Man”. When Michael Jackson came to town & played Pairc Ui Caoimh, The yellow man was just standing outside DALY INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY doing his duty, when a group of not so nice people took a dislike to him & decided to beat him up & kick him out onto the road. After a small few operations & replacement limbs he was back to work.
He has had his hard hat stolen several times & even had a cork jersey robbed off his back in broad daylight. (We think it was a Kilkenny man who took it)
He had his own brush with the law a few years later. Late one night a phone call was received by the owner of DALY INDUSTRIAL SUPPLYS from the gardai, informing him that they had picked up Maurice- The Yellow Man- from the lower glanmire rd., after they found him standing there after the close of business. The gardai were both very helpful & obliging at this time. (and left Maurice go without charge).
He has also had sleepovers in various neighbours’ houses after they saw him standing there late into the evening, when all were gone home. Anybody who has given him a bed has said he was a model guest – he didn’t make any noise & was no trouble

When he first started over 20yrs ago, several buses & taxis would stop to give him a lift. Which was very amusing to everyone except the drivers.
Also on occasion he would be known to give passers by a fright by talking to him and displaying his cork whit. Well really it was a walky talky in his pocket & the staff of DALY INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY having some fun.

On Valentines day in 2005 he was seen wrapped a female mannequin, everybody thought it was true love. But sadly for Maurice it didn’t last.

When the tour de France first came to our shores, he got out his bike & threw on the cycling gear
Every CORK GAA match he has his colours on to support & cheer on his county being the proud Corkonian.
Every MUNSTER match he wears the jersey with pride, supporting the Munster men through all sorts of weather
He is a very proud to be Irish, working for a Irish born, bred & reared company, he dons his green jersey at every occasion-come on the boys on green

As I began to write this, I didn’t know what I was going to say about A Mannequin that stands by the side of the road. But as you can see from the stories (and these are only a few) he is very important to all involved in Daly Industrial Supplies and we would really like to have him returned safely. The Staff at Daly Industrial Supply are offering a reward for information leading to and or his safe return. The Lower Glanmire Road & DALY INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY feel empty without him, please bring him home to 97 Lower Glanmire road if you find him out there somewhere.
