Irish National Snooker Champions Aaron Tobin and Brendan Cooney triumphant return to their home snooker club at Youghal C.Y.M.S.
Cooney in winning the Irish Masters title defeated Austrian based ex professional Richard McHugh 5 frames to 3 and as Irish champion qualifies for the World Championships in India in november,he also finished as RIBSA No. 1 ranked player for the 08/09 season hence completing a rare double.
Of the seven ranking tournaments he competed in 4 finals winning 3 and will now lead the Irish Masters team in the up coming home internationals in Wales in september where he will be joined by his son Christopher who will play with the Irish u16 team.
13 yr old Aaron Tobin capped a remarkable day for the Youghal CYMS in taking the u14 title defeating Andrew Doherty 3 frames to nil and claiming his place on the Irish u14 team alongside his fellow CYMS member Kenny Wight when Ireland play Wales in the Celtic Challenge in june. Well done to these two sporting talents on bringing National and International honours to the Youghal CYMS and to the town
