Despite the current economic downturn, Youghal has been in its own downturn since the late 1990s. I hope that the employess of Tytex who will be losing their jobs will be afforded the same conditions and support that the former Dell employees are receiving. Former Dell employees have a fund setup for them consisting of €15m from the E.U. and another €8m from government to be used in training and assistance to find replacement employment. While there was approximately 2,400 employees in Dell that still works out to be €10,000 per employee, I'm sure that it should not be too difficult or costly to provide the same assistance to the 80 employees of Tytex after all it is the very least that they deserve for their loyalty over the years. 2,500 job losses in ten years and not a single replacement is scandulous.
