The Select Vestry and Youghal Town Council
Further to a meeting with a representive of the Select Vestry and the Council, it has been decided that from this point forward St Mary’s Collegiate Church and grounds, Emmet Place, Youghal, will only accommodate and be used for charitable community fundraisers, coffee mornings, musical concerts and recitals of a classical and religious nature.
This decision has been taken in recognition that this church is an active place of worship.

Great News – The communities benefiting from Bobby Lee’s fund raising will be delighted with this. Does this mean Mary Coughlan will now be playing in St Mary’s? Michael D
So at long last we get a statement.
Short and to the point but it still leaves the question is Mr Bobby Lee still allowed hold concerts under the Sacred Root banner, even though all the monies raised are for local projects and benifit the youth of the town, do the concerts he holds fall under the charitable community fundraisers section.
I will await further news and clarification before I make a judgement on this. To me it looks like an easy way to say No and let it fall under the “place of worship” reason. These opinions are my own and from what I see reading between the lines Mr Bobby Lee will not be allowed continue with his great fundraising work, I sincerly hope I am wrong
I wonder did Oliver Cromwell have to go to as much trouble to get access to the church. Its a pity Youghal Council were not as active in stopping things back then.
Well put Michael D.
If this is an official statement from The Select Vestry(?) and Youghal Town Council, why are those involved not signing off on it? Also, an explanation regarding the reason for this statement in the first place would be very welcome. Thanks, Bernard
The way things are turning out, I don’t think we’ll ever see a concert in the church again. What I don’t understand is how they could have organised a “fundraising” gig for the church, when no gigs were supposed to be taking place in the church at that time anyway; it’s a total hypocrisy!
It’s seems too convenient that “charitable community fundraisers” was included in that list of accepted uses for the church – I think the facilities coordinator had a lot more to do with this statement then she’s letting on!!!
