The Ailbrin Society talk with local historian Michael Hackett

The Ailbrin Society is delighted to begin its 2011/2012 season with a talk by Michael Hackett, a well known local historian. Michael will be sharing his reminiscences of Youghal, its characters and its theatrical traditions. This talk will be held on Wednesday, 19th October at 8.30 p.m. in the Red Store, North Main Street, Youghal. The AGM of the Society will be held after this meeting. Admission: Members -free; Guests: 5E. New members always welcome.

RELATED NEWS: At the Celebrating Cork’s Past Exhibition on last friday the 30th September, held at City Hall, the Youghal stand was very popular.

Corkonians were very interested in the books written by Mike Hackett. As a result, the presenter of a Cork City radio show, Dr. Richard Cooke was eager for Mike to give an interview for the people of Cork. They were fascinated by his stories and his wealth of knowledge.

Michael’s interview will be aired on Sunday 9th October 2011 at 5-6pm on Cork radio station 100-5FM.
