ELVIS PRESLEY impersonator, Barry Darcy, from Castlemartyr, Co Cork, was gob-smacked on a leaving the CRY 104fm studios, on Tuesday (11th July 2012) when he was mobbed by Elvis Presley fans asking for his autograph and insisting on having their photograph taken with him. Elvis was spotted leaving the building by the back exit of the CRY 104fm studios in Youghal and was immediately mobbed by screaming fans. Not only does he look like Elvis and sounds like Elvis but this group of students actually thought it was Elvis singing on the show.
The women are students doing a Health Care Course at Cumann na Daoine which is nearby to the radio studio and insisted on a group photo with Elvis saying “It’s Now or Never”. His amazing performance blew them away, after listening to his interview on CRY 104fm. Luckily Trevor Nangle was on hand to explain that it was Barry Darcy, an Elvis Presley impersonator who was a guest on the ‘Trevor Nangle Show’ which Barry was happy to co-host. Barry sang several songs on the show which were almost impossible to distinguish from the real Elvis.
Barry was a big hit over the weekend of the Queen of the Sea Festival when he performed his live Elvis tribute act on stage at the Gig Rig last Saturday. Just because “Elvis has left the building” doesn’t mean he can’t perform outside and Barry said he is available to do his act for all types of indoor and outside events.
