YOUGHAL CYMS can boast three Irish Snooker International players heading to Prestatyn in Wales for the ‘Home Internationals’ this coming September 7th to 14th 2012.
Two of the players are father and son Brendan and Christopher Cooney, who also represented their country in this event back in 2009. Brendan is currently on the Irish Masters team while his son Christopher is on the Irish U-19 team. Adam Fitzgerald, who is on the Irish U-16 team will be competing for the first time and making his first international appearance.
Youghal CYMS are delighted to have three members of the club, the highest of any club in the country to play with the Irish squad. When they take to the green baize in the ‘Pontins Sands World Snooker Centre’ in Prestatyn they will be creating a little bit of Irish snooker history.
Brendan said “The set up in Prestatyn is second to none; it is the official qualification centre for professional snooker so the tables are excellent and playing conditions are superb.
There will be six nations represented in Wales. The host country Wales along with Rep. of Ireland, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Jersey will compete for the coveted title of home international champions.
The teams will play three frames per person with a point scored for every frame won, in a round robin format.
