THE SOCIETY held its annual flag day recently on the streets of Youghal and for the money that was collected the committee and members would like to thank the people of Youghal and surrounding areas for their kind and generous support. Approximately €1,300 was collected and this money will be used to improve our facilities which are second to none at this moment in time and also towards funding our junior members to attend national tournaments throughout the year.
The society would like to wish our three Irish internationals Brendan Cooney (Masters), Christopher Cooney (Under-19) and Adam Fitzgerald (Under-16), the very best of luck in The Home Internationals in Pontins, Wales. The tournament which will run from the 8th until the 14th is one of many international tournaments in the last few years which contain at least one representative from Youghal. Adam will be representing his country for the first time whereas Brendan and Christopher have been in this situation before. We have no doubts that all players will represent their club and country with the upmost of respect and honour.
Congratulations to Mark Kenefick who recently won the final of the Summer League. Mark beat team player Aaron Tobin 2-1 in an excellent match that was enjoyed by all spectators. Well done to both finalists on reaching the final. With the new season approaching Mark will be delighted to be hitting form at the perfect time. Both senior and junior tournaments will be put on the notice board in the coming week or two for entry.
The Cork Snooker League is also fast approaching; the local teams have been selected in recent weeks.

The league commences on the 20th of September and will continue on over the next few months being played on Thursday nights and all are welcome to come and support.
