Eochaill Og Match Reports, Results and News:

Saturday 08.09.12 – Venue: Sarsfield – Youghal Under 8’s versus Sarsfield.

The Youghal under 8’s travelled to Sarsfield on Saturday morning last the 8th inst, where we played two games against Sarsfield and one against Fermoy. We had a very slow start in all three games (I think it was the early start), but were back to our best in all the second halves, but it was too hard a hill to climb. We lost one and drew one against Sarsfield and lost to Fermoy. Even with the results going against us, I must say the lads never gave up and fought all the way to the final whistle. Well done to everyone.

Monday 17.09.12 – Venue: Ahavine – Minor A Football League

Fr O’Neills 0 – 03 Eochaill 3 – 15

On Monday evening we travelled to Ahavine for our last league game in our group where a win would see us qualify for the league semi final and we dually obliged.

We started playing into a strong wind and facing the evening sunshine. We opened our account with a point from Andrew Joyce. Fr O’Neills went up the field and levelled up the score and from this point on we dominated the possession but our shooting was a bit wayward and we were rushing our shots at the goal. We notched up two more points one from play and one from a free, we were never behind from this point on. We scored 6 points in the first half which was a poor return from the play we had but we also limited Fr O’Neills to only 3 points. Fr O’Neills would be indebted to their goalkeeper who was having a fine game and made some great saves. On resumption of the second half we had the wind at our back and used it to our full advantage by kicking long balls to our forward. This type of play paid dividends for us as we soon found the back of the net through the boot of David O’Mahony this goal settled us and we began to play some fine football taking some good points. Thomas Coleman was having a fine game at wing forward and he finished up with a personal tally of 1-6 a great return likewise our ever attacking wing back Colin Keenaghan scored 3 points from play and gave great support to our forwards. Our ever running corner forward Dale Donoghue finished with 1-3. Our backs did not have much to do in the second half but anything that was put their way throughout the game they dealt with easily, especially Mathew Farrell, Odhran Brennan (who was Captain on the night) and Conor Finn. Our Midfield of Bobbi Donoghue and Ollie Dempsey kept the supply of passes to the forward plentiful for the hour. A comfortable second half saw us come away with the points and finish top of our group we now play the second placed team from group 1 in the semi final of the league.

Final score 3-15 to 0-3

Friday 14.09.12 – Under 11 West Waterford League – Round 2.

The under 11 team played the second leg of the West Waterford leagues last Friday night in Youghal and played three matches over the evening. Another great performance by the team.
The other teams that took part were Killeagh, Abbeyside and St Oliver’s. Against very tough competition Youghal played fantastic and won their match against Killeagh while conceding to the other teams with a slight margin in the scores.
