Schools Visit
Many thanks to 2012 Cork Ladies captain Rena Buckey who visited all of the primary schools recently with the Brendan Martin Cup and spoke to all the pupils, signed autographs and posed for multiple photos. The Club was really honoured to show case one of Cork’s current All-Stars in our town and her visit has already encouraged some more girls to try out our fantastic game. To all local schools, Club officers who organised and accompanied Rena on the day many thanks for your time and effort which was appreciated by all pupils.

U16GFL Eochaill 4-8 Watergrasshill 1-4
Youghal travelled to Watergrasshill for their first game of this years league,on a wet cold day. The weather did not dampem the girls performance and ran out easy winners. This was helped somewhat that watergrasshill could only field 13 players so it was decided to play 13a side. It was the Youghal girls who got off to the brighter start by working hard for each other and taking some fine scores. The score of the half came when a long ball played out of defence was won by Shauna O Connell who turned her marker and made a good run to the 22 and kicked a high ball towards goal and it was Youghals Caira Crowley who won the ball and then turned the full back to drive a great shot to the roof of the net.
As the second half began the mentors made a number of changes, and it was very encouraging to see the girls coming off the bench to perform as good as the starting 13. The 2nd half was like a repeat of the 1st with Youghal well in control. With Youghal taking some more fine scores the signs are good for this young under 16 side. With our local derby with near neighbours Inch or next home game, this win was an important win to build confidence in this side. The Inch game will be played on sat 23rd of feb at 2p.m. Magners Hill.
Team; A.Arthur, N.Kelly, E.O.Brien, S.Kenelly, L.Dempsey, S.Monaghan, L.White, A.Macarty, C.Mulcathy, S.O.Connell, C.O.Keeffe, C.Crowley, C.O.Keeffe, E.Nolan, E.Farrell, K.Colman.

Last year the feedback was very positive with the girls learning and developing new skills in a fun and friendly environment. The camp will once again be run by Charlie McLaughlin former Cork U16 Ladies Football manager. The theme of the week will be around developing proper football techniques and team spirit. “From an early age boys and girls need to be thought the techniques of football properly and that’s what we do”, says Charlie. “Underage structures, at county and club are the future of our game and any opportunity we can give to young players to improve their game the better. “Clubs whose players attend camps benefit in turn and for those new to the game it puts them in the right direction in a friendly atmosphere”. If interested please complete booking form from your manager before February 28th.

U16GFL Youghal 1-4 Inch Rovers 3-6
This was Youghal’s second leauge game of the year and we were up against local rivals Inch. It was a fine day and like the weather we got a fine display of football. Both teams went for it from the off but it was Inch who got of to the brighter start with two early scores, but then it was the turn of the the Youghal girls to get on the score board and before long youghal had overtaken Inch. This game was played at a high tempo and some fine periods of play was on show. The game would of been all square at half time only for a defensive mistake by Youghal just before the break that Inch took full advantage to leave the scoreline at half time 1-3 to 2-3 in Inch’s favor.
The second half saw a more determent Inch side take more control of this game, and were putting a lot of pressure on the Youghal defence. As the half went on Inch looked the fitter side and were picking off some fine scores. It must be said only that for our six backs and keeper who put in a super shift the score line could have been much higher in Inch’s favor.
Team: A.Arthur, N.Kelly,E.Farrell, S.Monaghan, A.O.Sullivan, L.Dempsey, E.O.Brien, L.White, S.Kenneally, C.O.Keeffe, S.O.Connell, C.Landers, C.Crowley, C.O.Keeffe, C.Mulcahy(C)

League Updates
Most of our teams are now up and running in the East Cork league. Our U12 B team were beaten by a much stronger Mayfield outfit on Sat 16th of March where the early damage of conceeding 2-3 in the first 5 minutes proved to be too much to overcome. After playing with a strong breeze and the hill, Mayfield lead by 4-12 to 0-0 at half time. In fairness to the Youghal girls they never gave up and kept trying until the final whistle where Mayfield ran out deserved winners on a score line of 7-13 to 1-1. Next up for our U12B team will be Cloyne. The remaining games in the league for this developing team will be against Delaneys, RockbanB, Bride Rovers, Glanmire B, Midleton, Inch Rovers A, Na Piarsaig, Fermoy A and Aghada.
Our U12A team will commence their lesgue shortly and have been grouped with Rockban A, St. Colmans, Carrigtwohill, Erins Own, Glanmire A, St. Nicks, Fermoy B, Watergrasshill, Inch Rovers B and Lisgoold.
On bank holiday Monday our U14s made the short journey to Killeagh to take on neighbours Inch Rovers who simply out classed the Youghal girls.

Peil Camp
Preparations are almost complete for our Peil Camp. Any outstanding deposits should be returned to your team manager over the next 2 weeks. The camp will run from April 2nd to 5th during the Easter Holidays and a few places still remain for any player who wishes to take part.
