Sandra Mclellan TD welcomes An Bord Pleanala’s recent decision

Date: Tue 5 Mar 2013

Sinn Féin’s Sandra McLellan has welcomed an Bord Pleanala’s recent decision to refuse planning permission to Eras Eco Ltd to treat hazardous waste on site in their sludge plant in Youghal.

The Board did however grant permission for development consisting of the upgrading of an existing Waste Recovery / Transfer and Sludge Drying Facility as they considered that “the non-hazardous waste treatment component of the proposal would be acceptable at this location, would not be injurious to traffic safety and convenience, would not injure the amenities of the area or of properties in the vicinity and would be in accordance with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.”

Deputy McLellan says she “commends all of those who fought so hard to protect the town of Youghal especially the Blackwater Estuary Action Group for the countless hours they put into their campaign”.
