On Saturday last (9th March 2013) Will and Eillen McGoldrick and friends held a Thai “Come Dine with me” night in aid of ‘Cork Penny Dinners’ at their house The White Gables, The Mall, Youghal. Will and Alan Pike did the cooking and Eileen and Vicki Magee did the serving and were the Hostesses with the Mostess!. The diners donated a minimum of €25 per head, with all proceeds going to Penny Dinners. http://www.corkpennydinners.ie/wp/
The night started with a 1. Fizzy Drinks reception 2. 3 Course Thai meal including favourites like Thai Green Curry and Thai Beef Salad. All dishes were homemade from fresh ingredients.(full menu attached) 4. In total,16 people attended (diners included -Diane Magee, Sean Slattery & Theresa Slattery, Breeda Phillips, Lora Murphy, Helen Goulty, Tara McCarthy, Colin & Joan Pakeman, Za McCarthy All food was donated, from the dry ingredients to the fresh meat and fish, and a massive thank you goes out to i) Ken Brookes of Supervalu, ii) Steven and Sean Twomey, Master Butchers, Youghal, iii) Michael Taylor of Tesco Youghal, iv) Abbeyside Fishmongers

Cork Penny Dinners
was founded during Famine times as a soup kitchen. We are currently serving well over 1000 meals per week, compared to around 150 a week two years ago. Our aim is a simple one – to give everyone who calls to our centre a hot nourishing midday meal. In addition, our clients get sandwiches and fruit to take away as an evening meal.There’s an open door and a warm welcome. We never judge, we serve.
