Funding for McDonald’s Pier & Slipway, Youghal – Stanton

DSC_9766Today’s funding announcement of €57,000 for McDonald’s Pier and Slipway in
Youghal, Co. Cork has been welcomed by David Stanton, Fine Gael TD for
Cork East. Funding for repairs is being made available under the Fishery
Harbours and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme 2013.

“I am pleased that Cork County Council has been granted funding for the
refurbishment project at McDonald’s Quay in Youghal, which lies right in
the centre of the town. I understand that the project will include the
repair of the masonry walls and the slip deck,” said David Stanton.

Through their Fishery Harbours and Coastal Infrastructure Development
Programme, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will fund a
maximum of 75% of the project cost, totalling €57,000. The total project
costs is estaimated at €76,000 with Cork County Council making up the

Mayor of County Cork and local County Councillor, Barbara Murray also
welcomed the news. Barbara Murray is also a member of Youghal Town
Council who put forward the application to Cork County Council.

“This announcement is great news for Youghal and shows the level of
commitment from Minister Coveney to maritime development in the Cork area.
As a member of Cork County Council’s Coastal Management Committee I was
very pleased that the McDonald Quay refurbishment with placed very high on
the Council’s priority list for Departmental funding. The development will
really improve the infrastructure in Youghal,” said Cllr Murray.
