Community Radio Youghal 3rd Marathon Radiothon / 16th – 18th Aug 2013

On Friday the 16th of August at 10am, Community Radio Youghal will for a third year running embark on a Marathon of sorts as they attempt to broadcast 50 hours of continuous live Radio.

In what has now become an annual event in The CRY104fm calendar , The Radiothon kicks off on the Friday morning from CRY’s new home in Nagle House before heading to North Main Street Youghal for a live Outside Broadcast and the CRY team will be broadcasting from North Main Street and The new CRY studios in Nagle House, South Abbey for the duration of the 50 hours .

This year’s Radiothon is also bigger and better than ever with a Celebrity Auction also taking place on the Saturday night August the 17th at Farrell’s Bar Summerfield from 9.30pm with a host of local celebrities auctioning off a wide range of Sporting Memorabilia, Weekend Getaways, Concert Tickets, Restaurant Offers , and much much more, also this year in association with CRY’s volunteer Presenters we are aiming to get each of the 50 hours that we are on air sponsored by individuals , Businesses and local Community Groups and Organisations,

 

This year in what is a monumental and historic day for Community Radio Youghal all funds will go towards The CRY104fm relocation fund.

In what is a major new Community resource for Youghal and the surrounding rural areas the development of new radio studios, together with office and training facilities at Nagle House , South Abbey Youghal will be the new home of Community Radio Youghal

The station has well in excess of 100 people actively volunteering in several capacities. Community Radio Youghal is registered as an accredited training centre and began to roll out accredited training courses in the Summer of 2011 – at little or no cost to volunteers and at a moderate or zero cost for non-volunteers.

At Nagle House, the station will have two new fully functional and soundproofed studios for broadcasting and recording. The facility will also have a training room for the provision of accredited and non-accredited training courses.

 

There will be on street collections during Friday and Saturday and Collection boxes will also be placed in shops throughout Youghal and the surrounding areas beforehand .And don’t forget all your favourite CRY presenters will be keeping you entertained throughout Friday and Saturday night of the 16th and 17th of August.
