Students and staff of Pobalscoil na Tríonóide were treated to a wonderful recital from the acclaimed concert pianist Mr Sam Rotman. From Phoenix, Arizona, Mr Rotman is a graduate of the Juillard School of Music, New York and has been the recipient of many awards throughout the United States and Europe, including that of ‘Laureate Winner’ at the 4th International Beethoven Competition in Vienna.

Eddie may be gone, but Youghal continues to make its mark on international rugby -albeit with a little help from Midleton- through local lad David O’Callaghan. The youngest child of Mary and Declan, brother to Sorcha, Nicola and Garret, David recently captained the Irish Under-18’s (Schools) for the first time, during a Six-Nation festival in Cork.

On Wed night last 23rd April 2008 Youghal United played their last senior game of the year. They faced Midleton in this crunch match.

Youghal needed to win in order to gain promotion next season. With a game on hand Midleton could achieve promotion with just a draw and if they won, could still win out the league and be crowned champions as well as gaining promotion. Both teams lined out under the floodlights of Ardrath park in this game, even though attendance was not large there was still a good crowd of supporters braving the stiff breeze.
