The inaugural ‘Black and White Party’ night held by the Youghal Arts Network and Youghalonline.com at The Marine Bar, Upper Strand, was a great success and everyone had a ball in one of Youghal’s most popular pubs. Highlight of the night was the ‘Lovely Girl’ competition which had a large number of female entrants.The contest revolves around various imitations of typical events-of these three were MANdatory:
1 Sandwich construction
2 Walking (Between Bar Stools)
3 Laughing/Giggling. (A giggle is often considered a very feminine laugh)

2nd Prizewinners: Kay O'Connor and Jenny Kirwan (Stepford wives imitation) presented with the ' My Lovely Horse Award 2009'
Hazel Terry from Youghal was ultimately deemed the winner by the sober judges. Her prize was a specially commissioned ‘My Lovely Horse’ Plaque. Congratulations to lovely girl Hazel on winning the inaugural award. Second prize went to Jenny Kirwan and Kay O’Connor (Stepford Wives imitation) and third prize to Paula McGrath (Best Giggle). Better luck next year to all the lovely girls who entered the fun competition in aid of the Youghal branch of Cork Amnesty Group.
Such was the number of Lovely Girl ertrants in The Lovely Girls competition that it is hoped that it will become an annual event in the successful Youghal Arts Network/Youghalonline collaboration. Mr. Donacha O’Cearuill chairman of the Youghal Arts Network said he was delighted with the night and congratulated the Youghalonline team for their input in this successful event.

Proceeds from the night were presented to Mr. Jay Flavin from the Youghal branch of Cork Amnesty Group. Mr. Flavin said the monies would go towards their current campaign by the Cork Amnesty Group for justice for victims of war crimes in Gaza and Israel and would like to thank the Youghal Arts Network and Youghalonline teams for their help towards this worthy cause. Michael Hussey from Youghalonline thanked all who supported the event and the patrons of The Marine Bar.

Thanks to Bobby White ( Youghal News) for designing the posters and Kieran McCarthy for ‘Facebooking’ the event also to Becky Grice and Denise FitzGerald from the East Cork Journal and Bernard Cashman-Events co-ordinator. A special word of thanks to Mr. Jim Furey who did an outanding job as MC. and to My Lovely Horse without whom the event would have not been such a feckin’ success.
