Noel O’ Driscoll Memorial 2011

2 weeks ago saw the Noel O’ Driscoll Memorial prize for 2011 come to an end. Over the four days of play there was some great shooting out on the course where conditions were tough and the weather wasn’t on side for the majority of the tournament. We thank all who supported this prestigious competition and especially to those who have the course in such top condition day in day out. The overall winner of the prize was David Kenefick who produced some fine play and was a very worthy winner of the perpetual trophy. Although the weather wasn’t kind to us, over 100 cards were played in total.

Chairperson’s Prize 2011

The Chairperson’s prize sponsored by our chairman Martin Keohane was played for last weekend, Over the four days, weather conditions were again tough with rain around during most of the sessions. Although weather was poor, we were delighted with the turnout where 150 cards were played. We thank all who supported the competition. This was the last major of the year and scoring was close but it was James Howes who finished off his great season by adding the Chairperson’s Prize to the other wins this year.
Special mention to Paudie O’ Sullivan who had two ‘holes in one’ on Sunday afternoon in a row in the same round on hole 12 and 13 respectively. It is very rare to see this happen in the game and its a great achievement.

Membership in the Club is also on the increase, which is another positive going forward. We thank all who supported our captain Adrian Landers over the four days of competition and as always the course was in top order and no complaints were had. The weather was also on side for the players which made it more enjoyable in which to partake. It was very competitive over the few days where it was wide open up until the final card was handed in on Sunday afternoon.

There was a wonderful array of prizes, but the overall winner who played very steady over the course of the tournament with a supurb score was James Howes who won by 2 shots from David Poynton in what was a very competitive afternoon of pitch and putt.

A special congratulations must go to Martin Keohane, the winner of the ‘hole in one’ prize. Martin had in fact two aces in one round on Sunday afternoon. Club captain Adrian Landers said ” I am delighted to see such a turnout with over 200 cards played and we hope the Club can go from strength to strength in the future”.
