THE HOLY TRINITY CAPUCHIN CHURCH situated on Fr Mathew Quay in the heart of Cork City will provide a spectacular venue for the upcoming charity concert in aid of Hope Foundation. This exciting musical event will take place on Thursday November 17th at 8.15 pm. For many years now the Hope Foundation has been working with some of the most disadvantaged children in the world. Hope continues to rescue thousands of children from the streets and slums of Calcutta. Now more than ever before they need our help.
Some of East Corks top musical talent comes together on the night to present an uplifting program of music in the heavenly acoustics of Holy Trinity.
Cantemus, directed by Tomás Ó Tuama, is a chamber choir with a wide ranging repertoire from early Christian to contemporary. This choir has been successfully competing in The Cork Choral Festival since 2007. It was awarded National Choir of The Year and winner of The Sacred Music Competition at the Navan Choral Festival in 2011.
Ilse De Ziah will be performing a selection of pieces on solo cello. Ilse is a Baroque and folk musician, and composer. She is currently leader of the cellist section of Cork Symphony Orchestra.
The Kiltha Tones, a male voice choir directed by Ursula Muckley, will add to the eclectic nature of the evening with music from around the world.
Castlemartyr Choir, directed by Tómas Ó Tuama will open the concert. This choir is no stranger to Holy Trinity. It won The Sacred Music Competition here at Feis Maitiú in 2011.
This upcoming event gives us all a chance to enjoy a great evening of choral and baroque music in a beautiful, spiritual and acoustic venue while helping a really worthy cause.

Fr. Joe McGuane will celebrate Christmas Day Mass and Christmas Carols will be sung by The St. Raphael’s Staff Choir. The Crib at St. Raphael’s will be open to the public from Christmas Day onwards between 10am and 5pm. Please come along and say a prayer.

The staff who work at the centre have dedicated many hours on the decorating of The Nativity scene for the adoration of the birth of Jesus by the people of the town. Youghal people in times past fondly remember praying at the crib and taken a strand of straw from the Manger as a memento of this most Holiest occasion on the birth of Jesus. Many churches leave the manger empty (without the baby Jesus) until Christmas Day to reflect that Jesus has not yet been born before then.
YoughOnline.com would like to wish a happy and holy Christmas to everyone here in the town and also to those abroad who tune in to our website. Happy Christmas!

Santa visits boys and girls around the world in many different ways, but on Saturday 4th December at 2.00pm this year in Youghal, Co. Cork, Father Christmas is set to arrive on water with the help of local sailing school, Aquatrek, to the Quay-side to kick-start the seaside town’s annual Christmas festive season celebrations.
Santa’s horse and carriage will stand in his wait before taking him and the lucky winner of the school’s colouring competition to The Mall Arts Centre for an afternoon of free fun, which is open to the public.
Kids of all ages will enjoy the festivities from 2.15- 4.30 pm with a ‘free Santa visit’ and photograph, face-painting, mingling with the cast of Aladdin, while also being in with a chance to win a family pass to see the show! Making a special appearance in Youghal this year will be ‘Tricky Trevor’ with ‘Scamp’ the puppet dog. The afternoon will also see Trevor perform some amazing balloon wizardry!
Mums and Dads are catered for as they sip over warmed mulled wine and tuck into mince pies to the sounds of the Youth Choir and the nationally acclaimed Youghal Choir throughout the afternoon.
At 4.30 pm join Santa as he leads Youghal’s very own Pipe Band on their march to Market Square for the official turning on of Youghal’s Christmas Lights.
Speaking about the event, organiser Clodagh Mahon thanked all those who assisted in making the event possible. “With so much doom and gloom about, we wanted to ensure that this day was extra special for the families of Youghal. The many sponsors of the event allowed us to undertake an entirely free event, really demonstrating the community Christmas spirit in the town. We are expecting a large turn-out which will only add to the atmosphere on the day.”
