The car enthusiasts were out in numbers last Sunday, (May 30th 2010), and in no time the ground in front of the popular Farrell’s Summerfield Bar, began to fill with a fine selection of classic cars both European and American. And what a display!

The vehicles rested proudly and smugly on the lawn, accepting as their right the admiration and awe of all who surveyed them.  The colours, shapes, sizes and ages of all the vintage, veteran and classic cars and bikes was a kaleidoscope of colour with shining bodywork, glistening wing mirrors, gleaming fenders and lovingly cared for upholstery.  And those were just the vehicles!  The owners were there, equally proud, delighted to stand next to their car and show off – with good reason. The people came from far and wide to see this outstanding static display and none were dissappointed

This was the case yet again this month as Youghal town played host to one of the best cars shows in the Munster region. This mainly is due to the fact that the show is run as a strict classic car show, no steam engines or tractors in sight which usually is the norm on these events.

There were even some overseas clubs represented there. The quality and selection of cars was of very high standard from classic Mercedes, Austins, Fords, MGs, Rolls Royce, and Jaguars. There was something there for everyone and there was a good few American classics there as well.
Great credit is due to the organisers Johnny Greene and to host Michael Farrell of Farrell’s Summerfield Bar,Youghal on staging this wonderful event.

The entire day was very well organised, with plenty of refreshments and drinks available. There was a live band playing great music during the entire day, and some made a picnic of it by bringing their lunch and having it on the warm grass.   An unusual sight so far this year, with the persistent bad weather.
