Top Champion Jockey Davy Russell officially launches the Youghal GAA Club Golf Classic

The classic will be played at Youghal Golf Club on Thursday the 28th of June and with the tee off times filling fast, teams priced at €150 each which includes a meal after play, teams interested playing on the day would need to get  in fast.

The whole point of the classic is to raise much needed funds for the club and Russell who is a keen club member is only too happy to get involved, he said “I love the club and understand how tough things are now for all clubs and with the fantastic facilities in place here in Youghal it is a wonderful place for the whole community, but it costs a lot to put these facilities in place and events like the golf classic raise much needed funds for the club and I really hope that as many people as possible support the classic”.

The classic gets the full blessing from its nearest neighbours Youghal Golf Club who were represented by their Vice Captain Tom Linehan who said “We are delighted to have the GAA Club Classic back and I wish them every success and may the Lord look down on them on the day, lets hope that plenty play and support the GAA Club”.

The organising committee chaired by Davy Russell’s father Jerry who along with its dedicated members have worked very hard to try and raise funds for Youghal GAA Club, Youghal Camogie Club and the Youghal Ladies Football Club with this event.

“This is one fund raising event by the club and the club really needs a lot of support at the moment. The people at Youghal GAA Club work really hard to provide this magnificent facility to the town, so I think we really have to try and fund raise as much as we can” said Jerry Russell.

There is no doubt about the great venue at Youghal Golf Club for this classic which is in pristine condition at the moment and the classic will be played over the very popular old course.

If you want to get involved with Youghal GAA Clubs golf classic and want to book a tee time you cant contact Willie Doyle on 087-2458662 or you can get details on Youghal GAA Clubs website http://www.youghal.cork.gaa.ie/

The route took the fundraisers to Dungarvan where they turn off along the coast road to take in a lunch stop in Tramore. After lunch the run headed back in the direction of Dungarvan and on towards Cappaquin, Lismore and then Fermoy to finish. The weather was great and there was fantastic support for this charity event. Build 4 Life was founded by friends and family of Cystic Fibrosis patients in Cork and Kerry.

The aim of Build 4 Life is to:-

* Raise Awareness of Cystic Fibrosis in the region
* Raise over €1 million to develop Ireland’s first dedicated Cystic Fibrosis treatment unit within Cork University Hospital.
