An estimated 100 anglers are set to take to the waters of Youghal Bay to take part in one of the biggest angling competitions on the South Coast this year. Running over two days, 27th and 28th June 2009, ‘Youghal’s Deep Sea Angling Competition’ will feature two categories, Charter Boats and private boats. With cash prizes totalling in excess of €2,500 the competition is already attracting major interest from some of the top anglers in the country.
Deep-sea angling in Youghal has seen somewhat of a revival over the past number of years with two ‘state of the art’ Charter Boats operating from the Bay; The ‘Rebecca C’ operated by South Coast Charter’s Martin Colfer and ‘Seahunter’ operated by Youghal Dive Charter’s Gavin Tivy.
