Youghal Fire service dealt with a fire that broke out in the front strand, opposite Our Lady of Lourdes Church, an area known as the 21 acres in Youghal today (12th August 2010). Nobody was injured in the fire which was brought quickly under control by the Youghal fire brigade. It is not yet known how the fire began.

Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat station will hold its annual Service of Thanksgiving for members of the emergency services on Sunday next, 11 October.

This annual ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving will be held in the Star of the Sea Church, Ballycotton, at 7:30 pm.  Visiting choirs will join the Cor Cois Farraige, incorporating approx. 80 voices in total, for this annual Service.  The local school children from Scoil Realt na Mara will also participate.

This is not only a Service of Thanksgiving for lifeboat crewmembers but for all those involved in the emergency services. Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat fundraising committee would like to invite representatives from the surrounding lifeboat stations, coastguard, fire brigade, ambulance service and Gardaí to attend.   They would also like to share this uplifting service with all their supporters and friends.

Light refreshments will be served following the service in the local community hall.  Everyone welcome.

* Ballycotton Lifeboat was founded in 1858.  To date, the crew of Ballycotton Lifeboat Station have been awarded seventeen medals by the RNLI, 2 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze.

* The station has a €2 million, Trent Class lifeboat, Austin Lidbury.  This is a 14 metre, all weather lifeboat, with a top speed of 25 knots
