On this day 24th July 1982 The Rolling Stones were the first international act to headline at the Slane Castle venue. The sloping grounds of Slane Castle formed a natural amphitheatre for the rock fans who came from all corners of Ireland and beyond to see the legendary group. As many 100,000 people attended the event. The admission fee was £12. Headlined by the Rolling Stones with support acts The J. Geils Band, The Chieftains and George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
