Youghal’s Steve Whelan Band appearing on Balcony TV at The Clarion Hotel, Cork City

The Steve Whelan Band are a 5 piece High Energy rock/reggae/blues band from Co. Cork with Award winning singer/songwriter Steve Whelan at the helm and with Tony Kiely on Guitar, Oliver Loughnan on drums and Warren Tivy on bass. The Steve Whelan Band has gone from strength to strength. The band also guest musicians like Eanna Dowling on keys and Tom Edwards on sax for different shows

The Steve Whelan Band have been making a name for themselves performing in venues, pubs and festivals around Ireland for the last 2 years such as electric picnic, castlepalooza, rockanore and the myrtle groove and have received some great feedback from the gigs. The Band are currently promoting a new cd ‘Shadows become Faces’ which they are hoping to have out soon. Steve has a solo album out ‘The Last Walk’, which you can find on the net.

Back by popular demand and a spellbound audience last year  SAINT JOHN THE GAMBLER will return to The Marine Bar, Youghal this Saturday 31st March. They are currently working on an album and 3 members of the band will travel down from Dublin to bring their unique and unforgettable magic to The Marine Bar. Possibly the only band so far to have the arms of every female high up in the air! At the bands request Brian’s  bar piano is being tuned especially for the gig, that in itself is a rare occasion not to be missed!

Support from singer-songwriter Alex Bracken to kick off the night with his self penned songs. This singer songwriter will be playing in The Marine Bar for the first time so be sure to give him a warm welcome. He is currently recording at Claycastle Recording Studios, Youghal.

Later in the evening DJ Sean Hardware will be playing his perfect brand of nostalgia and alternative hits from much loved subcultures of 80s and 90s, ranging anywhere between punk, goth and early house/dance.

The night kicks off at 9.30 supersharp, you don’t want to miss a thing!

SAINT JOHN THE GAMBLER is an exciting original Alt-Folk band with a dance-inducing spirit. This Dublin based band have melded sounds from by-gone eras and distant lands with modern songwriting taking in influences from Klezmer, Mariachi, Old-Time Jazz, Latin and Vaudeville to create a bluesy Gypsy Piracy. They truly are unique – with a line up that includes trumpet, violin, double bass, drums, congas, banjo and vocals!
