Proceeds from the recent ‘Memories of The Voice of Youghal’ CD were donated to local charities at a function in Bertie’s Bar on Friday last. The CD was launched at a glittering function in Youghal GAA Centre last November. Some 500 copies of the album were produced and sold in the area over the last few months.
On Friday evening, cheques were presented to three local charities by Mark Ansbro and Jimmy Flanagan – who between them devised and produced the ‘Memories of The Voice of Youghal’ CD. The CD contained 16 tracks, including the many entrants into the legendary ‘Voice of Youghal’ competition and the song ‘The Night My Father Won the Voice of Youghal’, written by Mark Ansbro.
Cheques for €1,000 each were presented to Youghal Hospice and Community Radio Youghal. A draw was held on the night, with the proceeds going to Youghal Meals on Wheels. All three organisations expressed their thanks for the wonderful boost which the cheques represented to them. Also on the night a DVD ‘Memories of the Voice of Youghal’ was launched. Featuring archive film from the ‘Voice of Youghal’ down the years, it also includes extensive footage from the CD launch last November, at which the ‘Voice of Youghal’ host, Nooche Kenefick was honoured. The DVD is available for sale locally.
