An Introduction…
Tommy Fleming has many times been described as the “Voice of Ireland” and is one of Ireland’s top entertainers.
Tommy, who was born in Aclare Co. Sligo, Ireland in 1971 and was the youngest of six children, started singing while still at school. While fronting his own local band, a chance encounter with Phil Coulter at a charity function near his home lead to a big break onto the world stage where Tommy appeared as a guest singer on Phil’s USA tour. This then lead to the singer entering into the music business as a solo artist.
Shortly after securing a record deal everything looked set to flourish when a tragic car accident left the singer with a broken neck leaving his music career on-hold indefinitely. After many months of convalescence, Tommy returned to the stage having had to start over and is now regarded as one of the finest singers worldwide and is currently enjoying a hugely successful career spanning the last 18 years.
Tommy turns each song into his own with his own unique and powerful style touching emotions in you that only music can reach.
A Tommy Fleming concert is a musical experience not to be missed with one song more haunting than the other. He has a universal appeal to all ages and backgrounds with a fan base that is growing stronger worldwide year by year.
Don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy the experience of a Tommy Fleming concert.

Youghal Cine Club Presents – ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’
The Mall Arts Centre Youghal 7:30PM 22nd November 2012
Dir. John Madden USA 2011 124 mins
Cert 12A (IRL) Contains moderate sex references and situations and infrequent strong language.
Starring: Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy
Language: English
Reliable middlebrow craftman John Madden (Shakespeare In Love) makes neat work of Deborah Moggach’s novel about a group of disparate British retirees lured – for cut-rate surgery, low-overhead living, or reasons they hope to keep private – to the Indian subcontinent, where they find themselves together under the roof of the titular hotel. The cast is led by Dame Judi Dench as a long-sheltered widow looking to stand on her own two feet.
Marigold Hotel has that oh-so-tactful British touch, the seeming result of an industry-wide gentleman’s agreement to never go too far. The material is ribald but, of course, never crude and sewn with “Life begins at 60″ affirmations; the plot twists are about as venerable as the cast and predictably affecting when performed with such old-hand proficiency.
Although the film is overextended by a few plot-lines too many, you’ll look forward to Tom Wilkinson’s turn as a retired high-court judge who still goes fluffy over the memory of an affair from schoolboy days and Bill Nighy as a shy, ineffably decent man, quietly surprised by how nimble he becomes in this new atmosphere.

Catryn Power, Specialist in Heritage, Archaeology & Forensic Anthropology presentation at the recent Youghal Celebrates History Conference 2012. The presentation gave an informative insight and understanding of burial customs at the St. Mary’s Collegiate Church graveyard, Youghal. The 10th Annual Conference was held between the 29th -30th September at The Mall Arts Centre, Youghal. The Theme of this year’s Conference was Pomp and Circumstance- ‘Tales from the Tombs of St. Mary’s Collegiate Church’.
PARADISE REGAINED: A history of burial at the church and graveyard of St. Mary’s Collegiate Church and the future management of its conservation.
A highly valued place for Youghal local community to respect and commemorate its dead loved ones, for about 900 years. Ritual practices changed according to the century, tradition and the pocket, from simple coffin-less and earth-cut burials of lay people in shrouds, sometimes held together with pins, to the burials of the high-status individuals in table top tombs, others with obelisks in the yard of the church to the burials in vaults sunk into the church floor; the occasional one in medieval times, in poisonous (to the excavator) lead. Graveyards, overflowing with burials, and rotting burials under church floors causing sanitation problems, as well as dreadful odours, brought further changes to burial methods. The fear of corpse robberies still saw new cages placed around tombs etc.
An integrated conservation management of such monuments as the graveyard and the church is a significant challenge. Old monuments need attention: metal fixtures rust, stone cracks, earth settles. Descendants move away. Economies have financial difficulties. Unmarked burial areas require recognition and retention. The character of these Monuments must be preserved in perpetuity. Good conservation policies and archaeological practices must be maintained. There are some worrying issues of conservation at St. Mary’s; appropriate conservation specialists are essential. Erosion is evident on the external surfaces of the building. The church and graveyard are in good condition, nevertheless.

The greatest family comedian of our generation proudly presents 40 years in the Comedy business and most of this time at the very top of his profession. Brendan’s new show features some brand new material and some ‘Old Favourites’ from his vast repertoire over the last 40 years including all time favourite parodies ‘FATHER OF THE BRIDE’ and ‘CHINESE TAKEAWAY’. His sense of timing and ability to read an audience is without equal.A brilliant character actor, his ‘Bottler’ character is legendary and is now featured at every performance.

Apart from his obvious ‘star quality’ in all aspects of his performance Brendan’s drawing power is enormous and the ‘House Full’ sign is the norm rather than the exception at his concerts.
Nowadays Brendan spends a considerable amount of time in Florida where he resides with his family.Despite this he still plays the Irish Theatre Circuit and major hotel venues and in fact still considers Ireland his first love. The genial Dubliner has a very special bond with Irish audiences and is much loved by young and old not least because he gives very generously of his time after each Concert. The ’Meet and Greet’ is now very much part and parcel of each show and
Brendan’s very down to earth approach is much appreciated by all.
In more recent times Brendan has managed to attract a younger audience mainly because the content of his show is very ‘Family’ and also because of his hilarious appearance in Father Ted when he played the part of a drinking. smoking, troublemaker extraordinaire Father Fintan Stack.
Brendan Grace will be performing in The Mall Arts Centre, Youghal on 16th October 2012 at 8 pm.Ticket price €30.00.
As always and especially nowadays it is advisable to secure your Brendan Grace ticket when he appears in your area.
