THE SACRED ROOTS all ages Busking Competition took place Sat August 11th in conjunction with the Tag Rugby Festivities in Youghal Co Cork. 14 acts took part and despite the showers, braved the elements and played some wonderful music for us. Bands , Magicians ,rappers and singer songwriters partook in the event that boasted a €1500 euro prize fund thank to the Vintners of Youghal.

There were four categories
Overall winners with a pot of €600 went to Colin Turner, Georgia Theresa from Co. Wexford
Best under 16 winner with a pot of €400 went to the very talented Daniel Ryan from Youghal
Best Group went to the dance gurus Synergy from Youghal and Co Waterford with a pot of €300
Best Individual Performance went to Darragh Lee with a pot of €200

‘Music Speaks Louder Than Words’
THE THIRD ‘Tag to Youghal’ Rugby Festival which took place over the weekend from the 10th -12th August 2012 was a great success. Organised by Youghal RFC in partnership with Youghal Chamber of Tourism & Development and the Youghal Vintners Association, the festival kicked off on Friday evening with live music and pub trail.
The tag rugby competition, took place over the two days and boasted €2,000 in prize money which attracted entries from all over Munster. The final took place on Sunday with plenty of entertainment for all the family with pitch side music, food, underage tag games, bouncy castles. On Saturday evening from 4pm -6pm a busking competition took place all along the main streets in the town with prizes of €1,500.

On Sunday, Farrell’s Summerfield Bar was the place to be to see a wonderful display of vintage cars, steam engines old time threshing. – see below.

YOUGHAL RFC in partnership with Youghal chamber of Tourism and the Youghal Vintners Association are set to host the 3rd Annual “Tag to Youghal” Festival from 10th – 12th August 2012. The festival kicks off on Friday evening where you can enjoy the lively atmosphere in the bars all weekend along the festival’s “Pubfest” live music & pub trail.

The tag rugby competition takes place over two days. With €2,000 worth of prize money to be won, this has already attracted a competitive entry from all over Munster which will provide two days of first class sporting entertainment.
The final of the tag rugby takes place on Sunday where there will be plenty of entertainment for everyone with pitch side music, food, underage tag games, bouncy castles, sheep patty bingo and much more… and entertainment followed by prize giving.
For those who need a break from the rugby, take a stroll around the town on Saturday evening 4pm -6pm and enjoy the busking competition, where you will be entertained by a variety of talented musicians, this will be sure to create a wonderful buzz and add to the excitement of the festival atmosphere for the weekend.
For the younger visitors there will be a crab catching & sand castle competition, so come along and try your luck. On Sunday 15th take a trip to Farrell’s Summerfield Bar from 1pm to 6pm to see a display of vintage cars, steam engines old time threshing, childrens entertainment, bungee run and bouncy castles. Later on, you can enjoy the craic in the bars in Youghal along the festival’s “Pubfest” music & pub trail
