Members and their partners were cordially invited to attend the presentation and music and dancing followed. The Captain’s Prize was presented by the Youghal Golf Club Captain Jim Coleman and his wife Finnuala to this year’s worthy winner Ivor O’Callaghan.

The annual playing of the Bertie Dempsey Memorial Trophy took place at Youghal Golf Club over the weekend, where a huge amount of members and guests alike turned up to honour the memory of a great man, and a fantastic character. The Competition was won by Martin Desmond. Paul Dempsey representing the ‘Dempsey Family’ presented Martin with the trophy at Bertie Dempsey’s Bar last Saturday night (20th of Feb. 2010)

They came 4th in the National Finals in Edmondstown in April. We have a pennant here tonight which will be put up in the Clubhouse to recognise this achievement. We would also like to acknowledge the great privilege it is for Youghal Golf Club to have members from our Club selected for the U18 Munster Interprovincial Girls team. This was held in Woodenbridge on 17th April. Edel and Julie did us proud again on this occasion, even though Ulster won, Munster came a very close second. Read more

Youghal Greyhound Track is long established in the town, and each year an Awards Night is held to present prizes to winners of the various categories. Saturday the 23rd of Feb saw the 2nd playing of the Bertie Dempsey Memorial Trophy at Youghal Golf Club, when a huge amount of members and guests alike turned up to honour the memory of a great man, and a fantastic character. The Competition was won by Tommy (Dog) Bulman with a great score of 42pts. Paul Dempsey representing the ‘Dempsey Family’ presented Tommy with the trophy at Bertie Dempsey’s Bar on the same night.
