St. Patricks Day Shenanigans: A Hilarious Twist at Treacys Find The Nook Bar.

Youghals St. Patricks Day Parade 2024 wasnt just about shamrocks and leprechauns; it had its own dose of comedic magic when one participant, dressed to the nines as St. Patrick himself, found himself in an unexpected situation that had the town roaring with laughter.

Amidst the sea of green, one man clad in a St. Patrick costume became an instant celebrity as he paraded through the streets, greeted by cheers and well-wishers at every turn. However, his grand entrance into local fame reached its pinnacle when he made an impromptu detour to Treacys The Nook Bar on North Main Street.

The patrons of Treacys were in for a treat as St. Patrick himself waltzed through the door, crozier in hand, ready to spread his jovial charm. The crowd erupted into cheers and laughter as he joined the Treacy family and friends for a group photo, all while proudly waving his symbolic crozier and playfully proclaiming a ban on snakes from Ireland, much to the amusement of onlookers.

Dressed in the national colours of green, white, and orange, St. Patrick couldnt resist the temptation to indulge in a pint of the black stuff and a drop of whiskey to go along with it. And where better to enjoy such festivities than at the friendly oasis nestled right in the heart of town.

As the crowd mingled and the laughter echoed off the walls, the advertising catchphrase Find The Nook took on a whole new meaning. Retired publican, Michael Treacy, of the historic establishment, couldnt have imagined a more fitting endorsement for his beloved bar. After all, St. Patrick himself had journeyed hundreds of miles and centuries of time to finally reach his destination – and what a destination it was!

As the revelry continued into the night, it was clear that Treacys The Nook Bar had once again cemented its place as not just a pub, but a cherished cornerstone of Youghals social life. With its rich history dating back to 1901 and its enduring commitment to community, its no wonder that this iconic establishment continues to thrive, bringing joy and laughter to all who pass through its doors.

So, heres to St. Patrick, Treacys, and the unforgettable moments that make St. Patricks Day in Youghal truly magical. Sláinte!

Youghals St. Patricks Day Parade 2024: A Resounding Success!

THE SUN smiled down upon the charming streets of Youghal, illuminating a scene of sheer joy and celebration as the town came alive for its annual St. Patricks Day Parade. With crowds lining the streets by the thousands and floats bursting with colour and entertainment, it was a day to remember for all who participated and attended.

Grand Marshal Ken Brookes, visibly moved by the outpouring of support and pride from the community, declared it one of the proudest days of his life. As he led the procession up the main street, he shared heartfelt words of optimism for Youghals future, highlighting plans for a major investment by his families Brookes Supervalu business within the next twelve months. This investment symbolises a renewed confidence in Youghal and underscores the steadfast support of its people.

The parade itself was a spectacle to behold, with tricolour flags dancing in the air and cheers echoing through the sunlit streets. Thanks to the live broadcast on the Youghalonline Facebook page, the festivities reached far beyond the towns boundaries, captivating viewers from across the globe. From LA to New Hampshire, from London to Yorkshire, and even as far as Italy, Germany, and Holland, a global audience joined in to share in the excitement and pride of Youghals St. Patricks Day celebration. Viewers tuned in from Boston, Sheffield, New Zealand, Southampton, Ballymacoda, Spain, San Antonio Texas, Sydney, Missouri, Oxford, Kent, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Harlow, Liverpool, Luxembourg, Rhode Island, Hampshire, Reno Nevada, and Philadelphia, making it a truly international affair that united people from all corners of the world in the spirit of Irish heritage and community celebration.

Organised flawlessly by the dedicated team at Youghal4ALL, the parade showcased the creativity and spirit of the community, with colourful floats and spirited performances earning well-deserved praise. Special congratulations are in order for the prize-winning floats and the ever-impressive Youghal Pipe Band, whose stirring bagpipe music echoed through the narrow streets, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The emergency services stood out in their vibrant uniforms, a testament to their dedication and professionalism, while crowds gathered eagerly at the Youghal Clock Gate and the surrounding pubs, making it one of the busiest days in recent memory for local businesses.

However, it was at the Youghal Post Office where the true heart of the celebration resonated. Here, the parade judging panel honoured the participants, while MC Tommy Collins from Community Radio Youghal, provided colourful commentary as each float passed by. The sense of community spirit and camaraderie was palpable, with both young and old coming together to create a spectacle worthy of admiration.

In the end, as the glamour of the day rivaled that of Hollywoods Oscars night, it was clear that Youghals St. Patricks Day Parade had once again captured the hearts and imaginations of all who were fortunate enough to be a part of it. Heres to many more years of joy, pride, and celebration in our beloved town of Youghal!

Absolutely 100% amazing parade thank you everyone Youghal Thanks a Million... Daniel woodhurst.... Hope to see y'all in 2025 Fantastic

Well done Ken and Co Congratulations 🍀🍀👏👏

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken Brooks, both before and after yesterday's parade. He whispered to me, as he shook my hand before the start "I am terrified", though, in truth he didn't look it. I assured him that everyone was on his side. After the parade, a different Ken came up and again pressed my hand. "That was the proudest moment of my life!" I am a better person for your candour, Ken. Thank you,

Great photo xx

Remembering the Revered Fr. Donal Hussey: A Beacon of Irish Identity and Patriotism

In a captivating blend of green USA army uniform and traditional Irish kilt, the late Fr. Donal Hussey stands as a poignant symbol of pride and allegiance, bridging two nations with his unwavering commitment to God and country. His legacy, deeply cherished in Youghal, County Cork, and Elko, Nevada, resonates with the essence of St. Patricks Day—a celebration of faith, heritage, and unity.

Wherever Fr. Donal ventured, he carried with him the vibrant spirit of his Irish roots. His infectious enthusiasm for his community, both in Ireland and the USA, illuminated every path he tread. With a heart brimming with devotion, he seamlessly intertwined his roles as a priest and a soldier, epitomising the profound connection between faith and service.

To Fr. Donal, fighting for God and country wasnt merely a duty; it was a sacred calling—an embodiment of heroism, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty. For generations, Americans have revered their soldiers as embodiments of these virtues, and Fr. Donal exemplified them with unparalleled grace and dignity.

Rising through the ranks to the esteemed position of Major in the United States Army, Fr. Donal remained steadfast in his dedication to his calling. His presence radiated a sense of reverence and admiration, as he led by example, inspiring others to emulate his unwavering commitment to serving both God and nation.

St. Patricks Day held a special place in Fr. Donals heart—a day not only to honour his Irish heritage but also to celebrate the unity and camaraderie that transcended borders. His joyful participation in festivities, adorned in the iconic colours of Ireland and the USA, served as a testament to his boundless pride and love for both lands.

As we reflect on the remarkable life of Fr. Donal Hussey, we are reminded of the profound significance of his legacy. His unwavering faith, indomitable spirit, and fervent patriotism continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
