The Regal Cinema Youghal has a history dating back to its opening on June 15, 1936. It was built to serve the small East Cork holiday town of Youghal and has since become a cherished cultural landmark. The cinema originally opened its doors with the screening of the Irving Berlin musical “Top Hat,” starring Fred Astaire
Throughout its history, the cinema has been owned by the Hurst family, who eventually closed it in 2010. However, the cinema has been recently rejuvenated and restored to its original glamour, with many of its original features preserved. The Regal Cinema’s long history and recent restoration make it a significant and beloved part of Youghal’s cultural heritage.
The Regal Cinema, with its authentic wooden windows, inviting hues, and distinctive art deco elements, serves as a time machine to yesteryears.
